Dre Bullock scored 23 points and Harry Rouliadeff contributed 17 as the University of Hawaii basketball team rallied for a 93-77 exhibition victory over Chaminade on Sunday at Bankoh Arena in the Stan Sheriff Center.
An estimated crowd of 1,500 saw the Rainbow Warriors fall behind by as much as 68-61 against the Silverswords’ aggressive full-court press. However, UH forward Gytis Nemeiksa rebounded his own miss and scored on a putback to give the ’Bows a 75-74 lead with 3:42 remaining. From that point on, the ’Bows would not trail again.
Bullock, who transferred from South Dakota this summer, had several highlight plays in his first UH start, including a windmill jam off a steal. The ’Bows dominated the boards 59-32, including 22-8 on the offensive glass. Nemeiksa pulled down 12 rebounds, while Bullock grabbed eight boards along with three steals and two blocks.
Kent King led the Silverswords with 23 points.
With this win, the ’Bows improved to 2-0 in preseason exhibitions. They open the regular season on the road against Oregon on November 4.
