There will be three of these games this year, two of them before February 1. These matches may or may not serve as artificial benchmarks for what the Knicks currently look like, or what they are going to look like during the important part of the season.
The Knicks playing the Bucks at Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum was always going to be interesting. The Bucks still consider themselves one of the essential teams in the Eastern Conference, and, of course, they still have Giannis Antetokounmpo on their roster. That alone made Tuesday night’s early-season tilt a compelling alternative to Game 4 of the World Series.
Of course, until Antetokounmpo is either traded or emphatically declares that he’ll remain a Buck for life, the “Giannis Element” will continue lurking just beyond the Knicks’ periphery.
On Tuesday morning, at their shootaround, Mikal Bridges admitted that he’s aware of the ongoing chatter—especially on the day, a few weeks back, when it was revealed that Antetokounmpo had expressed a desire to play in New York, should the Bucks decide to move him.
“There’s nothing any of us can do. I just went on with my day,” Bridges said.
