Ben Shelton’s girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, is on the road to recovery following a brutal injury she suffered during a Washington Spirit game. She recently shared a glimpse of her training session, showcasing her small but steady steps toward healing.
Rodman sustained an MCL sprain during a Concacaf W Champions Cup showdown between the Washington Spirit and Monterrey. Shortly after the incident, she left the field on crutches and began her recovery journey. Despite the severity of the injury, Rodman’s spirits remain high, as she has already started hitting the gym and engaging in recovery training.
Most recently, Rodman posted a video on Instagram revealing her recovery process. In the clip, she is seen performing side lunges with weights while wearing a fracture pad on her right knee and calf. Accompanying the video, she wrote, “Slow and steady 🥹,” reflecting her determination and positive mindset.
The injury occurred when Rodman was attempting a tackle against Monterrey defender Daniel Monroy. She fell to the ground and stayed down for a while, visibly in tears, before being helped off the field by her teammates.
While Rodman fights through her injury, Ben Shelton continues to compete at the Paris Masters. After defeating Flavio Cobolli in the first round, the American is set to face Andrey Rublev in the second round on October 30.

### Ben Shelton Opens Up About His Shoulder Injury at the US Open
Shelton also suffered a significant injury earlier this year during his US Open campaign. In August, he sustained a shoulder injury during the tournament’s third round against Adrian Mannarino, leading to his first-ever retirement from a match due to injury.
Following the incident, Shelton addressed the media in a press conference where he shared the pain he endured. “Yeah, really high (pain level). Not sure. You know, I never retired before. I’m not a guy who would retire if I could continue. Usually I’ll play through anything and just kind of find a way. And whether it’s sickness or injury, like, if I can stay out there, I can stay out there. I’ve never felt anything like this before,” he explained.
Despite the setback, Shelton maintained a positive outlook. “Yeah, I mean, I got a lot to be grateful for. Been pretty fortunate. My life, blessings, talents, a lot of things God’s given me. And, you know, a small setback like this. Yeah, it hurts. Yeah, I was playing really well. I was in form, a lot of confidence. Just so many things to be happy with, the way that I was playing, moving on the court, competing,” he added.
Since recovering from the shoulder injury, Ben Shelton has returned to competition and participated in the Shanghai Masters and the Swiss Indoors, demonstrating his resilience and commitment to the sport.
