Pablo Sanchez is headed to the big screen! An animated film based on the beloved computer game *Backyard Baseball* is currently under development.
Arturo Castro will lend his voice to the iconic character Pablo Sanchez, while Tiffany Haddish is set to play Kiesha Phillips. The animation studio Sticky Situation—known for their work on *Rick & Morty* and *The Bob’s Burgers Movie*—will handle production duties for this new project.
The script will be penned by Joe Purdy, writer of the classic animated series *Hey Arnold!*. The voice cast also features several other notable names, including Chris Mintz-Plasse (yes, McLovin from *Superbad*) as Dmitri Petrovich, Ego Nwodim as Stephanie Morgan and Jocinda Smith, Adam Pally as Pete Wheeler, Donald Faison as Dante Robinson, and Utkarsh Ambudkar as Achmed Khan.
Here’s a sneak peek at the plot:
*It’s Opening Day at Steele Stadium. But team superstar Stephanie “Bubbles” Morgan is in crisis — she’s lost her gotta-have-it, never-play-without-it lucky bubble gum! With just 30 minutes until game time, the Backyard kids embark on a wild mission to track it down and save their season.*
The *Backyard Sports* franchise has been dormant for quite some time, but it recently came back to life when Playground Productions — an upstart company run by a school teacher — purchased the rights to the series.
While there is currently no official release date for the *Backyard Baseball* movie, several classic games from the franchise are available on Steam right now, ready to challenge and frustrate fans once again.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new chapter for *Backyard Baseball*!
