Trump threatens to deploy military in response to ‘Islamic Terrorists’ mass slaughtering Nigerian Christians

**President Donald Trump Threatens to Cut Aid and “Go Into” Nigeria Over Attacks on Christians**

*By Blake Wolf | 4:10 PM Saturday, November 1, 2025*

President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to the Nigerian government, threatening to pull all aid and take military action against extremist groups responsible for what he described as the “mass slaughter of Christians” in Nigeria.

In a Truth Social post on Saturday, President Trump demanded that Nigeria take immediate action against what he called “Islamic Terrorists” carrying out attacks targeting Christians.

> “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.”

He further instructed the U.S. Department of War to prepare for possible military action, emphasizing:

> “If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!”

Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa with approximately 220 million residents, has a population divided mainly between Muslims and Christians. Various watchdog organizations, including Open Doors and the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, have reported that Nigeria is among the most dangerous countries in the world to be a Christian.

Thousands of Christians have reportedly been killed, and tens of thousands more displaced by extremist groups in Nigeria. The Nigerian government has faced international criticism for not doing enough to protect its Christian population.

In a separate Truth Social post the day before, President Trump stated:

> “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria.”

He added:

> “When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done! I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter, and report back to me.”

> “The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria and numerous other countries. We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian population around the World!”

**Nigerian Government Responds**

Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Maitama Tuggar responded to the threat, stating:

> “For the avoidance of any doubt, and out of respect for all the victims and survivors around the world of this unique and appalling crime against humanity, let the record show that there is no genocide, now or ever, in Nigeria.”

Additionally, Nigerian foreign ministry spokesperson Kimiehi Imomotimi Ebienfa said on Saturday:

> “The United States of America has made its statement on religious freedom. Nigeria has noted.”

> “We remain committed in our resolve to tackle the violent extremism that is fueled by special interests who have helped drive such decay and division in countries across the intersecting West African and Sahel regions.”
