Washington Commanders star quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered what appears to be an upper-body injury late in Sunday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.
With the Commanders already trailing significantly against Sam Darnold and company, Washington absorbed a major blow on the injury front when Daniels went down. Before leaving the game, Daniels had accumulated 153 passing yards with zero touchdowns and one interception on 16-for-22 pass completions.
The 24-year-old Daniels was attempting to reach the end zone when he was tackled, causing him to go down awkwardly. He used his left arm for support, but it became pinned under his body and bent at an uncomfortable angle.
Here is the video of Daniels’ injury, though viewers should be warned that it’s not for the squeamish.
Despite the injury, Daniels was able to walk off the field on his own, which offered some encouragement for the Commanders and their fans. However, with Daniels likely to miss the remainder of the NFL season, Washington will turn to veteran backup Marcus Mariota to fill the starting quarterback role.
The Commanders ultimately suffered a 38-14 loss to the Seahawks, dropping their fourth consecutive game and sixth overall in the 2025 NFL regular season.
It won’t get any easier for Washington, as they prepare to face the 5-3 Detroit Lions at home in Week 9.
