**Miss Universe Executive Nawat Itsaragrisil Dismissed Following Confrontation with Miss Mexico**
Miss Universe executive Nawat Itsaragrisil has been dismissed from this year’s pageant after a shocking confrontation with Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch earlier this week. Raúl Rocha, president of Miss Universe, announced the decision along with several additional sanctions against the 60-year-old Itsaragrisil in a subtitled video shared on the organization’s official Instagram page.
“I have restricted Nawat’s participation in the events that are part of the 74th Miss Universe competition, limiting it as much as possible or eliminating it entirely,” Rocha stated in Spanish.
Rocha expressed his “great indignation towards Nawat” for the “public aggression he committed against Fátima Bosch,” whom Itsaragrisil reportedly “humiliated, insulted, and showed lack of respect to.”
“I will not allow the values of respect and dignity of women to be violated,” added the Miss Universe president. “Nawat, you need to stop.”
As a result, the pageant’s sash presentation has been postponed to “avoid any interaction” with Itsaragrisil. Rocha also urged Miss Universe Organization CEO Mario Bucaro to take over speaking on behalf of the pageant and hinted that legal action could be pursued “as a result of the malicious acts committed by Nawat.”
### The Incident
The 2025 Miss Universe pageant made headlines earlier this week when Itsaragrisil, then still serving as executive director of the organization, publicly berated Bosch during the annual sashing ceremony on Tuesday.
The confrontation began when Itsaragrisil called out Mexico’s delegate for not participating in a sponsorship shoot. The exchange was live-streamed on the Miss Universe Thailand Facebook page.
“Mexico, where are you?” asked the Thai businessman before Bosch responded.
“I heard you’re not going to support everything about Thailand. Is that true?” Itsaragrisil pressed.
Their back-and-forth lasted nearly five minutes, culminating in Itsaragrisil calling Bosch a “dummy.”
“I still keep talking to everybody, why you still stand up to talk to me?” he questioned.
“Because I have a voice,” Bosch fired back firmly. “You are not respecting me as a woman.”
The tense situation escalated when Itsaragrisil ordered security to remove Bosch from the room. In response, more than a dozen other Miss Universe contestants walked out in solidarity with Bosch.
“Sit down,” Itsaragrisil demanded as the contestants fled. “If anyone wants to continue the contest, sit down.”
### Apologies and Reactions
Following the incident, Itsaragrisil apologized in an Instagram post for making viewers “uncomfortable.”
“I invested and tried my best to make this event fair to everyone but it’s hard to control because the daily events being posted make it harder for him to reach the miss,” he wrote less than 24 hours after the confrontation.
“Sorry universe fans, I can only do this because my patience has a limit,” he added. “Sorry again if I make anyone uncomfortable watching.”
He offered further apologies during a Miss Universe press conference on Wednesday, speaking through tears.
“I am human. I didn’t want to do anything like that,” Itsaragrisil said. “I had not intended to harm anyone because I respect all of you.”
“I am so sorry it happened. First, I have to apologize to the delegates. If anyone was affected and not comfortable with what happened, I am so sorry,” he concluded.
### Looking Ahead
Despite the controversy, the 2025 Miss Universe pageant is still scheduled to kick off in Thailand on November 21. The organization is taking steps to ensure the remaining events uphold the dignity and respect expected of all participants.
