**Fallout 4 Adds Xbox Play Anywhere Support Alongside Anniversary Edition Release**
Bethesda has announced that Fallout 4 is adding support for Xbox Play Anywhere starting today, coinciding with the release of the game’s Anniversary Edition on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
For Xbox players who already own Fallout 4, this update means they can now play the game for free on PC and benefit from cross-saves support, seamlessly continuing their progress across both platforms.
After Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda, the publisher brought Fallout 4 and many of its titles to the Microsoft Store, the Xbox app, and PC Game Pass. However, until now, Fallout 4 did not support Xbox Play Anywhere. The existing PC version of Fallout 4 available on the Microsoft Store remains downloadable with PC Game Pass, but it appears that new purchases are no longer possible. Additionally, this older version will not receive any updates and does not support cross-saves with the new Xbox Play Anywhere version.
Xbox Play Anywhere is an important feature that helps devices like the ROG Xbox Ally deliver a true “Xbox” experience. It allows gamers to purchase a game once and enjoy it on both Xbox consoles and PCs. However, developers must opt into this feature, and unfortunately, many have yet to do so. Even today, several Microsoft-owned games, including Minecraft, Diablo IV, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, still lack Xbox Play Anywhere support.
It’s encouraging to see a decade-old game like Fallout 4 receive this enhancement, extending its longevity and convenience for players.
The newly released Anniversary Edition of Fallout 4 is priced at $59.99 and includes the base game along with all six official add-ons and over 150 pieces of Creation Club content. For those who already own all existing Fallout 4 DLCs, Bethesda offers a $19.99 Creations bundle that grants access to the new Creation Club items.
This update makes Fallout 4 the latest Bethesda title to embrace fan-made content support, following in the footsteps of Skyrim and Starfield.
