The Home Office has confirmed that a second person who was removed to France under the government’s “one in, one out” migration deal has returned to the UK.
The unnamed man arrived back in the UK after joining nearly 400 people who crossed the Channel in small boats on Sunday. According to the Home Office, the individual—whose age and nationality have not been disclosed—was identified through biometric data as one of the 94 people removed from Britain under the UK-France treaty in the past two months.
He was detained immediately upon arrival, and the Home Office stated he would be returned to France “as quickly as possible.”
This marks the second case of a person returning to the UK after being removed to France. The first was an Iranian man who arrived back on 18 October, less than a month after being among the first individuals sent to France under the new deal, as initially reported by *The Guardian*.
