**Daniel Jones Reacts to Brian Daboll’s Firing by the New York Giants**
The news of Brian Daboll being fired by the New York Giants has affected many in different ways, including his former quarterback, Daniel Jones. In an interview with USA Today Sports conducted shortly after the announcement, Jones shared his thoughts on the development.
Daboll coached Jones from 2022 to 2024, and despite the recent turn of events, Jones had only positive things to say. “Yeah, I just kind of heard about it recently, and obviously, you never wanna see anyone fired, it’s an unfortunate part of this business,” Jones remarked. “So, yeah, I think that’s the reaction, and [I] hope for the best for him and everybody there in New York.”
### Jones’ Best Season Came Under Daboll’s Leadership
Brian Daboll joined the Giants in 2022 and quickly made an impact by leading the team to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Under Daboll’s guidance, Daniel Jones put together a career year, passing for a personal best of 3,205 yards. He threw 15 touchdowns against just five interceptions.
One of the things Daboll famously utilized was Jones’ mobility. The quarterback rushed for over 700 yards and scored seven rushing touchdowns in 2022. Jones also helped lead the Giants to a postseason victory over the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card Round, although their playoff run ended the following week with a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
This success prompted the Giants to reward Jones with a massive $160 million contract extension.

Unfortunately, the next two seasons did not go as smoothly. Jones played in only six games during the 2023 season before suffering a season-ending injury. Afterward, he joined the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad but didn’t stay long.

In the 2025 offseason, Daniel Jones signed with the Indianapolis Colts. He competed for the starting quarterback job against Anthony Richardson and ultimately won the spot. Through 10 games, Jones has thrown 15 touchdowns to seven interceptions and currently leads the league in passing yards with 2,659. Additionally, he has rushed for five touchdowns, showcasing the dual-threat ability Daboll had once helped develop.
