Knicks’ defensive player of the game award is a reward — and so much more

Posted on 2025 年 11 月 11 日 by admin

Following every game, Mike Brown steps to the microphone and starts his monologue. There are no questions from reporters—just an uninterrupted few minutes of the coach’s thoughts on what has transpired.

We often hear about sprays (drive-and-kicks) and whether Brown was satisfied with the amount. According to him, there are never too many. Pace is another frequent topic. The Knicks simply can’t play quick enough.

When the team wins, Brown makes sure to start a sentence with, “Our defensive player of the game is…” This public announcement comes after a special ceremony in the locker room for the recipient. This initiative is unique to this season and is intended to promote both motivation and smiles.

“One of our values is joy,” Brown explains. “One of our principles or rules is to have fun. If you’re going to preach something or say something, you have to be about it. We try to find different ways to find that joy or to help our players have fun, because the season can be long and it can be monotonous.”
