**Indore Overhauls Intercity Transport: Navlakha and Teen Imli Bus Services Terminated**
In a significant move to centralize and streamline public transport in Indore, all bus services from Navlakha and Teen Imli bus stands have been officially terminated as of Monday morning. This decision follows a directive issued by the District Administration and Transport Department.
Early Monday, teams from the Transport Department, accompanied by police personnel, arrived at Navlakha Bus Stand to enforce the new mandate. While buses already carrying passengers were allowed to complete their journeys, officials confirmed that no further arrivals or departures would be permitted at Navlakha. From now on, all intercity bus routes must operate exclusively from Nayta Mundla Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT).
The transition has been in the works since February 2024, when initial instructions were given. However, despite prior notice, the move has sparked protests from some transport operators. Concerns raised include increased travel time, higher passenger costs, and lack of direct connectivity from the city center to the new terminal.
In response, RTO Pradeep Sharma reaffirmed the administration’s position, emphasizing the benefits of better infrastructure, improved passenger safety, and reduced traffic congestion as key reasons for the change.
To ensure a smooth and orderly transition, police and transport officials are working closely together. Despite resistance from certain quarters, authorities have made it clear that the new system will be strictly enforced with no rollbacks, marking a new phase in Indore’s intercity travel framework.
