Judge denies Rose Bowl’s request for TRO to prevent UCLA from moving to SoFi Stadium

Posted on 2025 年 11 月 12 日 by admin

The Rose Bowl experienced a setback in court on Wednesday, but it still has another opportunity to pursue its case.

The judge ruled that there was no basis for emergency relief because UCLA, after its November 22 home finale, is not scheduled to host another game at the Rose Bowl until the 2026 season. This decision means that an immediate injunction could not be granted.

Additionally, the judge suggested that the City of Pasadena and the Rose Bowl Operating Company should seek more information from UCLA regarding any discussions it may have had with SoFi Stadium about a potential move. Following this, a motion for a preliminary injunction could be filed before the start of the 2026 season.

UCLA continues to insist that no decision has been made to leave the Rose Bowl for SoFi Stadium. However, the university has never denied that it is considering relocation.

A key issue lingering over the litigation is the possibility that SoFi Stadium might receive a mandatory invitation to join the dispute. This is based on the potential argument that the facility, owned by Rams owner Stan Kroenke, intentionally interfered with the Rose Bowl’s contractual relationship with UCLA.
