Samsung gains ground in China’s foldable market, here’s what helped

Posted on 2025 年 11 月 14 日 by admin

**Samsung Rejoins China’s Top Five Foldable Mobile Brands in Q3 2025**

Samsung was the world’s first brand to launch a smartphone with a foldable display for the mass market. Since then, the company has consistently made major technological advancements in the space, launching new foldable phones each year with significant upgrades. This commitment has positioned Samsung as a global leader in the foldable mobile market—except in China.

Despite entering the foldable phone market at a later stage, Chinese brands have established a much stronger foothold in their home market than the South Korean tech giant. Many Chinese devices may not be as impressive as Samsung’s offerings, but their popularity remains high. In fact, during Q2 2025, Samsung failed to make it into China’s top five foldable mobile brands.

However, things have started to change.

**Samsung Returns to China’s Top Five Foldable Mobile Brands**

IDC has published its analysis of the foldable mobile market in China for Q3 2025. According to the research firm, Samsung now holds a 4.3% share in this market, reclaiming the fifth and final position on the top five chart. While not a dominant position, this represents a notable improvement over Q2 2025, when Samsung was absent from the top ranks.

Samsung’s comeback is largely attributed to the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This new model brings significant upgrades over its predecessor, particularly in terms of reduced thickness—a feature long requested by users.

**Current Market Leaders in China’s Foldable Segment**

Huawei continues to lead the foldable mobile market in China, boasting a commanding 68.9% market share. Following Huawei are:

– Honor (11.2%)
– Vivo (5%)
– Oppo (4.9%)
– Samsung (4.3%)

**Samsung’s Next Innovation: The Tri-Folding Display**

Recently, Samsung unveiled its first smartphone featuring a tri-folding display. The new device is expected to launch as the Galaxy Z TriFold on December 5, 2025, and will be available in select markets—including China. Industry insiders anticipate that this innovative model could further strengthen Samsung’s position in China’s competitive foldable mobile sector.

With ongoing advancements and bold new product launches, Samsung seems determined to regain its momentum and expand its influence in China’s foldable phone market.
