The Oregon Ducks have been one of the most dominant and popular teams of the 21st century, winning numerous big games, a handful of New Year’s Six Bowl Games, and reaching two national championship games in the last 25 years. As a result, they’ve been featured on college football’s preeminent pregame show, ESPN’s *College GameDay*, over 30 times, and will be making their 35th appearance this weekend against the No. 16 USC Trojans.
It will be a top-20 showdown in Eugene, with both teams looking to get one step closer to a College Football Playoff berth. This will be the third time that Oregon has been featured on *College GameDay* this year, and the second time that the show will set up shop in Eugene for a game. Earlier this year, *GameDay* traveled to Happy Valley to preview Oregon’s game against Penn State, and then returned to Eugene to preview the Ducks’ matchup versus Indiana.
This marks the first time since 2007 that *College GameDay* has come to Eugene twice in a single season.
### Oregon Ducks All-Time Record When Featured on *College GameDay*
The Ducks have been featured 34 times on *College GameDay*, and they’ve been largely successful in those games. Oregon holds a 20-14 all-time record when on the show. They have won five of their last eight appearances, with the only losses coming earlier this year against the Indiana Hoosiers, last year’s Rose Bowl against Ohio State, and in 2023 against the Washington Huskies in Seattle.
### Who Will Be The *College GameDay* Guest Picker?
Earlier this year, Oregon Ducks legend and WNBA superstar Sabrina Ionescu served as the guest picker for the show. Ionescu was also featured as a guest picker back in 2022, ahead of Oregon’s victory over the UCLA Bruins.
This time around, *GameDay* will likely select a different guest picker. Thanks to some well-timed bye weeks in the NFL, a broader pool of candidates is available. Former Oregon quarterbacks Bo Nix, Justin Herbert, and Marcus Mariota are all free due to off-weeks for the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, and Washington Commanders, respectively.
Could one of these former Ducks return to Eugene for the big game? It’s certainly possible. Additionally, many alumni such as Kenjon Barner and Jonathan Stewart are expected to be in town, giving ESPN an excellent pool of candidates to consider.
### The Lee Corso Effect
Coach Lee Corso was undoubtedly the most beloved member of the *GameDay* crew for decades. During that time, he built a special relationship with Oregon’s mascot, The Duck. However, with Corso’s retirement earlier this year, he will not be at the show ahead of the Oregon vs. USC game.
Here’s a look at how Oregon fared when Corso picked the Ducks, and when he went against them:
