For the 11th time, McIntosh High won a GHSA State Cheerleading Championship. The Chiefs won the Class 5A crown on November 15 at the Macon Coliseum. “Winning the state championship is always an amazing feeling, knowing all of your hard work, time, dedication, and effort has paid off,” said McIntosh coach Shannon Bednarowski. “It reinforces that if you want something bad enough, are willing to put in the work, make the sacrifices, and not accept anything less than your best, you can accomplish your dreams.” This year’s team theme was “Clap for the Chiefs.” “That’s what we did all season long,” said Bednarowski. “This team worked incredibly hard and held themselves personally accountable to get their jobs done and not earn the team any deductions.” The champion Chiefs are Maggie Bowen, Ella Camacho, Ella Coakley, Maddie Craig, Blair Dollens, Willow Head, Rylee Kent, Aria Kroge, Lilly Landgaard, Meredith Lawson, Laney Lineville, Juju Lockwood, Charlotte Malloy, Alexis Ricca, Zamanta Rios Madrid, Sophia Rueff, Marine Sakuma, Kamara Smith, Jozlynn Smith, Brooklinn Turner, Mackenzie Waldron, Anna Wheeler, Blaire Wright, and Saylor Ziegler. They are coached by Shannon Bednarowski, Catie Callen Jones, and Sara Beck. “They performed their best routine of the year at state finals, and every member of the team did what was necessary to execute a perfect routine and score the highest in the State 5A division,” said Bednarowski. “They represent McIntosh High School and the sport of competitive cheerleading well with their commitment to perfection and excellence.”.
