Indonesia to Recognize Israel if Palestinian State Is Recognized
Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority country, currently has no diplomatic relations with Israel. However, a significant development may be on the horizon.
Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto addressed the 80th United Nations General Assembly at the U.N. headquarters in New York on September 23, 2025. During his speech, he indicated that Indonesia would consider recognizing Israel if a Palestinian state is formally recognized.
This potential shift in Indonesia’s foreign policy could have major implications for the Middle East peace process and diplomatic relations between Muslim-majority countries and Israel.
