**Drunk Headmistress Found at Government Primary School in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa Sparks Outrage**
In Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh, villagers and social media users expressed outrage after a headmistress was found intoxicated at her school. The incident occurred at the government primary school in Levai village, located in the Baloda development block.
The 45-year-old headmistress, Heera Porte, was reportedly so drunk that she tripped and fell onto a table while trying to take the mid-day meal. At the time, the school day had ended, and the children had already gone home, according to a report by Dainik Bhaskar.
Locals recorded a video showing Porte behaving erratically — mumbling in Hindi and English, carrying bread in her pocket, and putting her feet on a table. When a villager confronted her, asking, “Sharaab pee kar pade ho school mein… accha lagta hai? (Does it look nice being drunk like this on school premises?),” she surprisingly responded with, “Thank you.”
The school has 45 students and only two staff members: Headmistress Porte and one other teacher. Villagers revealed that Porte had been attending school intoxicated for several days, seriously disrupting the students’ education. Multiple complaints about her behavior had been filed prior to this incident.
According to Porte’s family, she began drinking after the death of her husband, despite repeated advice from her parents to stop.
Following the viral video, Collector Janmejay Mahobe ordered an immediate investigation and directed officials including the SDM, DEO, and BEO to look into the matter. Verification interviews with teachers, students, and villagers confirmed the events as reported.
On September 20, Heera Porte was suspended for violating civil service conduct rules. During her suspension, she will be stationed at the Baloda Block Education Officer’s office. Additionally, the Collector issued show-cause notices to the Block Education Officer and BRC Baloda for their failure to monitor the school properly.
Authorities emphasized that strict actions will be taken against anyone who disrupts the education system or jeopardizes the future of students.
This is reportedly the first such case in the current academic session in Chhattisgarh where a female teacher was caught drunk on school premises, raising serious concerns about teacher conduct within the state. The video of the incident continues to be widely circulated on social media platforms.
