Aggies surf past Buffaloes in Hawaii

Posted on 2025 年 11 月 25 日 by admin

Texas A&M women’s basketball got back to its winning ways on Tuesday, Nov. 25, defeating Colorado 59-46 for its final game of the North Shore Showcase in Hawaii. The Aggies were led by senior guard Ny’Ceara Pryor, who had 23 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Maroon and White. After a last-second shot from UT Arlington ended A&M’s winning streak on Monday, it bounced back quickly against Colorado. Although the Buffaloes got on the board first, junior G Janae Kent got in a rhythm as she scored six straight points for the Aggies. The Aggies held the Buffaloes to nine points in the first quarter, compared to their own 15, and headed into the second quarter with a six point advantage. Five of the 15 points came from the free-throw line, a place where the Aggies struggled early in the tournament. A 16-point second quarter performance from Colorado was enough to get it out in front of A&M. Redshirt junior G Zyanna Walker had eight points to lead the Buffs, including two 3-pointers. After shooting 60% from the field in the second quarter to A&M’s 26. 7%, Colorado hung on to a one-point lead and entered halftime up 25-24. The second half was full of success for the Maroon and White, who outscored the Buffaloes in both the third and fourth quarters. The offense posted 35 points, while the defense held Colorado to just 21 points. As a team, the Maroon and White were able to shoot 50% from the field in the third quarter as they scored 16 points. The third quarter scoring was led by Pryor, who had seven points and three assists. In their final quarter in the 50th state, the Aggies had an epic fourth quarter, where they scored 19 points thanks to five different players. Graduate student G Jordan Webster led the Maroon and White late in the game, scoring as she had six points in the fourth quarter and finishing the evening with nine. The Aggies held onto the lead over a very gritty Colorado team for a majority of the second half. The scoring started with Webster, who nailed a 3-pointer to give the Aggies an even bigger lead and some much-needed momentum with just 10 minutes left to play. The next three minutes were silent for both teams after a series of missed shots, before Pryor found her way to the free-throw line, where she knocked down two very important shots. A big change from the loss against UTA and the victory over Colorado was the free-throw shooting for the Aggies. In the Aggies’ loss against the Mavericks, they shot 62. 5% from the line, while in the victory against the Buffaloes, the Aggies improved and shot 82. 4% from the line. Despite a quiet middle of the fourth quarter, the scoring picked back up for both teams as the two went back and forth before the Aggies were able to get on a roll. The Maroon and White scored the last eight points of the evening, which were all free throws besides another 3-pointer from Webster. The Aggies’ time in Hawaii came to an end, yet they will be back in Reed Arena at 6: 15 p. m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, for the annual ACC-SEC Challenge for a battle against Georgia Tech.
