Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards shared his honest thoughts on playing point guard this season. The Timberwolves lack a starting playmaker, so they have turned to their dynamic star until they can find a solution. Speaking to reporters after the Timberwolves’ 113-105 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Edwards was asked about his feelings on his role as a point guard. “Ant-Man” is comfortable with his new role, but he knows he has a lot to improve on. “Feeling good. I just got to get used to being a point guard, going to get the rock. At the end of the game, like, bringing it up, even though they pressure, because sometimes I’ll be thinking, I’ll let somebody bring it up and then come get it. It was the Timberwolves’ third straight loss, which all came down to the wire. They blew an eight-point lead with less than a minute left against the Phoenix Suns on November 21. They then had a 14-point lead erased by the Sacramento Kings, losing in overtime on November 24. Minnesota was just down by a point at the 1: 02 mark against the defending champs, but they let them finish the game on an 8-1 run. Timberwolves Inquired About Ja Morant Anthony Edwards is at his best as a shooting guard, so the Minnesota Timberwolves have a plan in place regarding their point guard situation. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that the Timberwolves made an inquiry on Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies. However, the Grizzlies have declined all calls regarding their superstar point guard amid his recovery from a calf strain. Morant’s relationship with the franchise is on edge, so the Timberwolves and several other NBA teams are expected to continue monitoring his situation. The Timberwolves have never shied away from making big trades under Tim Connelly, who orchestrated the acquisition of Rudy Gobert from the Utah Jazz in 2022. Connelly also sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo last year. Other Options for Minnesota If Ja Morant remains unavailable, or if the Minnesota Timberwolves think he’ll clash with Anthony Edwards, the franchise has other options at point guard. Siddhant Gupta of Fadeaway World suggested Dennis Schroder and Russell Westbrook of the Sacramento Kings. Schroder is an experienced veteran who comes up in clutch situations, while Westbrook still has his motor and energy despite his age. The proposed offer has the Timberwolves sending Mike Conley, Rob Dillingham and a couple of second-round picks to the Kings. Dillingham is the prized prospect here since he could be Sacramento’s new starting playmaker. It should be pointed out that Schroder is ineligible to get traded before December 15, while Westbrook can become available on January 15. Nevertheless, the Timberwolves still have time to evaluate their options. Not having a starting point guard is unsustainable, especially if they want a deep playoff run once again.
