A motorcyclist from Gustine in Merced County was killed on the morning of November 10 after losing control of his bike and being struck by a trailing vehicle on Highway 101 in San Jose, authorities reported.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the crash was reported at 8:46 a.m. on southbound Highway 101 near Capitol Avenue. The victim, identified as 43-year-old Angelo Cardoso, died at the scene.
According to investigators, Cardoso lost control of his motorcycle and went down in the roadway. A 2018 Kia Soul SUV traveling behind him struck Cardoso and then overturned. Fortunately, the driver of the Kia was not seriously injured, CHP officials confirmed.
Traffic on southbound Highway 101 was restricted to a single lane for approximately three hours while officers examined the crash site and cleared debris.
The CHP said the collision remains under investigation.
