Kathmandu, Dec 11: Thirteen individuals working as middlemen have been arrested from the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal. A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office conducted the arrests on Wednesday.
SP Kaji Kumar Acharya from the Crime Investigation Office stated that the group was apprehended after investigations revealed that these middlemen targeted victims who visited the department seeking justice after being cheated in the name of foreign employment. The middlemen were found bargaining with the victims under various pretexts.
According to the police, service seekers coming to the department for labour approvals faced harassment and pressure to use these middlemen. The group allegedly employed false promises, such as offering help to issue arrest warrants and claiming they could apprehend individuals involved in foreign employment fraud cases. These tactics were used to extort money from vulnerable people.
Authorities continue to urge the public to avoid engaging with unauthorized middlemen and report any suspicious activities to the police to prevent further exploitation.
