Erika Kirk Reacts to Allegations About Late Husband During CBS News Town Hall
Erika Kirk, Chairwoman and CEO of Turning Point USA, addressed a series of allegations surrounding her late husband, Charlie Kirk, during a CBS News town hall moderated by CBS editor-in-chief Bari Weiss on December 13.
Turning Point USA’s founder and Erika’s husband, Charlie Kirk, 31, was tragically murdered on September 10 while speaking to a crowd of students at Utah Valley University. Erika, 37, took over leadership of the organization following his death.
During the town hall, Erika spoke candidly about the overwhelming reactions on social media surrounding the incident. “This is the first time that we have seen evil on display where we have social media at our fingertips,” she said. “People are wanting answers immediately. They are wanting to figure out how to wrap their mind around this.”
When Weiss asked Erika if she believed that 22-year-old suspect Tyler Robinson, who has been charged with the crime, was responsible for murdering her husband, Erika firmly replied, “Yes, I do.”
“Why do you think it is so hard for so many people to believe that reality?” Weiss questioned.
“Because it’s too simple,” Erika responded. “Again, everyone always has to think there’s more to the story. Well, sometimes there’s not. I’ve seen the autopsy report, I’ve seen our case pulled together, I’ve been in constant contact with our lawyers—our, the prosecuting team—I’ve seen it all.”
Erika also explained that she refrains from sharing all the evidence publicly to avoid compromising the prosecution.
During the interview, Weiss also addressed various conspiracy theories that have gone viral online. Some social media users have alleged that Erika is a Mossad agent and claimed that rings she wears symbolize a “secret plot,” which she categorically denied.
Weiss brought up allegations made by political commentator Candace Owens, who suggested that people wearing maroon shirts in the crowd on the day of Charlie Kirk’s death might have been part of an “elite airborne operation.” Owens also claimed that two Egyptian planes had been tracking Erika Kirk from 2022 until Charlie’s death, citing 73 Egyptian flights that allegedly “overlapped” with her movements. Owens further alleged that Charlie Kirk was present at 29 of those flights.
Responding to these claims, Erika clarified, “I was pregnant for 90 percent of those trips. Mind you, I’ve never—all those places they said I traveled to, I’ve never been—I mean I’ve been but not within those states that they’ve—”
Weiss interjected, asking if Erika even needed to address these rumors.
“I do,” Erika replied. “I do on that one only because, only because from a humor standpoint, humor standpoint, I intentionally, when I was pregnant, hid. Not because I was embarrassed, not because I didn’t want anyone—yes we did keep it very private. But it’s because it was a moment very sacred. I was growing a human inside of me.”
Erika firmly denied ever being “on an Egyptian plane” and stated that she has photo evidence proving at least one of the alleged travel dates to be incorrect.
When asked what she would say to Candace Owens and others spreading these falsehoods, Erika’s response was clear: “Stop. That’s it. That’s all I have to say. Stop.”
