Ben Shelton Mesmerized by Utah Jazz’s Walt Clayton Jr’s Epic Dunk
Ben Shelton has been left mesmerized by basketball star Walt Clayton Jr’s incredible skills. The Utah Jazz point guard recently pulled off an epic poster dunk during a thrilling clash against the Boston Celtics, and Shelton was quick to show his appreciation for the spectacular play.
The game between the Jazz and the Celtics was an exciting affair. While the Celtics emerged victorious with a 129-119 win, it was Utah’s rising star, 22-year-old Walt Clayton Jr., who stole the show on Wednesday night. Clayton Jr. delivered an unforgettable one-handed poster dunk in the second quarter, leaving fans and audiences stunned.
Reacting to the highlight, Ben Shelton shared a video of the moment on his Instagram stories, writing, “Thanks for the submission! Walt! @w.cjr.”
A Longtime Admirer of Basketball
Shelton has been a long-time admirer of basketball. The American tennis player has admitted that growing up, he enjoyed basketball more than tennis, considering it the ‘cooler sport’ in the USA. He has even shown off his own basketball skills on several occasions, demonstrating his dunking capabilities during the Dallas Open last year. Additionally, he teamed up with former Portland Trail Blazer and Denver Nuggets player Rudy Fernandez during the 2025 Mallorca Championships.
Reflecting on His 2025 Tennis Season and Big Goals
On the tennis court, Ben Shelton enjoyed a strong 2025 season. The 23-year-old American broke into the Top 10 of the ATP World Rankings and secured his maiden Masters 1000 title at the National Bank Open.
During an episode of ‘The Long Game’ on his YouTube channel, Shelton reflected on the past year, saying,
> “I’m getting more and more consistent as the years go on. You know, it’s only my third year out on tour and I forget sometimes that I finished last year ranked outside the top 20. I think I was 21 in the world to finish the year last year and this year I wanted to make Turin (ATP Finals). That was my big goal.”
Shelton also opened up about his ambitions for the upcoming season, stating,
> “I’ve made a lot of improvements. We really take pride in improving on little parts of our game and you know all the 1%, the smaller performance-based, non-result-based goals that (mean) the results are kind of an afterthought. I got big goals, dreams, aspirations in the sport. Every year I feel a little bit closer.”
Looking Ahead to 2026
Ben Shelton is set to begin his 2026 season at the ASB Classic, an ATP 250 event scheduled to take place from January 12 to 17. He will be competing alongside top players such as Casper Ruud, Cameron Norrie, Gael Monfils, and more.
With his basketball admiration and continued tennis success, Shelton is poised for another exciting year ahead.
