Week 5 TV Preview: Danger Zone

Posted on 2025 年 9 月 24 日 by admin

It’s a big week in college football — it’s Errebody vs. Errebody this week! We’ve got some huge matchups all over the country. If you’ve been saving up a weekend to fuse yourself to the couch, this is the one. No matter how things shake out, we’re going to have a different College Football landscape Sunday morning.

Here’s your Week 5 TV Preview:

—

**THURSDAY**

**Army at East Carolina**
ESPN, 7:30pm EST (6:30 CT)

I love the triple option until we have to face the triple option. Army brings their current offensive iteration to Greenville, NC, to face the East Carolina Pirates. ECU has reason to be optimistic despite losing an uphill battle to BYU last week. They are favored at home, but you can never really tell how a service academy game is going to go.

East Carolina will need to avoid turnovers to keep an Army team that has already stunned Kansas State, another purple team, at home this year.

—

**FRIDAY**

**Florida State at Virginia**
ESPN, 7:30pm EST (6:30 CT)

Florida State is rolling so far this season as they travel to Charlottesville to face a prolific Cavaliers offense. Virginia already has over 2,300 all-purpose yards this season, which is good enough for fourth-most in the country.

The Seminoles have the second most rushing yards and, infinitely more importantly, lead the nation in points per game. The Cavaliers will wear throwback uniforms to commemorate their 1995 upset of then-ranked No. 2 Florida State and hope for things to go sideways under Friday night lights.

—

**SATURDAY**

**USC at Illinois** (#21 vs. #23)
FOX, Noon EST (11:00 CT)

In the first ranked vs. ranked contest of the day, the Fighting Illini host the Trojans of USC. Though the two teams are closely ranked, USC is 4-0 including 2 conference victories over Purdue and Michigan State.

Illinois was looking to be a force until crashing face first into Indiana with a 63-10 slice of humble pie. Big Noon Saturday lives up to its name with a huge contest first thing in the day.

—

**LSU at Ole Miss** (#4 vs. #13)
ABC, 3:30pm EST (2:30 CT)

First, the winner of this game will have a clear path to Atlanta. The 4-0 unstoppable force that is Ole Miss’s offense will crash into LSU’s immovable defense.

Second, Lane Kiffin’s daughter announced on social media that she is dating LSU linebacker Whit Weeks. So expect to hear about that a lot!

—

**Alabama (#17) at Georgia (#5)**
ABC, 7:30pm EST (6:30 CT)

Our Dawgs are hosting the dreaded Alabama in Athens, a rivalry steeped in mythology. Our own Seth Wilson ties this fierce matchup to military history in his piece, *The Narrative Value of Beatin’ Bama*.

—

**BYU at Colorado** (#25)
10:15pm EST (9:15 CT)

Brigham Young’s Cougars rumble into Boulder with a decisive 3-0 record but will face their first conference opponent. Though Coach Prime’s Buffaloes have faltered a bit since the days of Shadeur and Travis, they’ll look to capitalize off last week’s win and the return of Kaidon Salter at QB.

The Big 12 late-night contest is the perfect nightcap to what I’m hoping is an incredible day of football.

It’s going to be a huge week for football! Sound off in the comments about anything I missed. Can Sam Pittman preserve his .500 clause against Notre Dame? What games are y’all excited about?
