Popular reality show **Bigg Boss 19**, hosted by Salman Khan, is facing legal trouble over the alleged unauthorized use of two songs in its recent episodes.
**Legal Notice from PPL**
Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL), India’s oldest licensing organization, has sent a legal notice to the show’s producers for copyright infringement. PPL alleges that *Chikni Chameli* from *Agneepath* and *Dhat Tere Ki* from *Gori Tere Pyaar Mein* were used in Episode 11 without proper permission.
The notice, served by advocate Hiten Ajay Wasan on September 19, accuses Endemol Shine India, the production company behind Bigg Boss, of using the sound recordings without obtaining a public performance license.
**Demand for Damages**
PPL has demanded ₹2 crore in damages and license fees for the alleged copyright violation. According to a source from PPL’s legal team, both songs are licensed to Sony Music Entertainment India, one of over 450 music labels whose public performance rights are managed by PPL.
**Cease and Desist Issued**
In addition to the damages demand, PPL has issued a cease and desist notice to the makers of Bigg Boss 19, instructing them to immediately stop using the recordings without authorization. The organization highlights that Endemol Shine India failed to secure a license under Section 30 of the Copyright Act, 1957, which it considers “willful infringement.”
**Current Status**
Despite these ongoing legal issues, Bigg Boss 19 is continuing to air on Colors TV at 10:30 PM and streams on JioHotstar at 9:00 PM.
