**Kabul Migrant Who Won UK Asylum Returns Home for Eight-Week Summer Holiday**
A small boat migrant who was granted asylum in the UK after claiming to have fled “dangerous” conditions in Afghanistan has returned to his home country for an eight-week summer holiday, according to the Daily Mail.
The migrant, identified as DG Usamana, traveled over 5,000 miles from Kabul after arriving in Britain by dinghy in 2022. Usamana, who is also active on TikTok, documented his journey and experiences on social media.
In the summer of 2024, Usamana returned to Kabul for an extended vacation. He shared highlights from his trip on various platforms, including videos of visits to the famous Band-e Amir National Park—a popular tourist destination known for its stunning lakes. He also posted footage of a scenic lake ride aboard an orange raft and a convoy of cars touring the picturesque Takhar province in northwestern Afghanistan.
In one of his posts, Usamana documented his return flight to the UK via Dubai, captioning it simply: “Back to UK.”
Usamana had successfully convinced UK authorities to grant him asylum based on his claims that Afghanistan was “too dangerous” to return to. However, UK Government guidelines explicitly state that asylum seekers or those granted protection status are not permitted to return to their country of origin.
Following his trip, the Home Office has launched a detailed investigation into Usamana’s asylum status. A spokesperson commented, “Whilst we do not comment on individual cases, where there is evidence of someone holding protection status returning to their country of origin, it will trigger a review of their status,” as reported by the Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, the number of illegal migrants who have crossed the English Channel so far this year has reached 32,103—a record figure for this time of year.
